 Employers should:

  • have an increased awareness/acknowledgement of the importance of understanding the needs of staff with long term conditions- including recognising the fears/anxieties that employees can have about disclosing and discussing their long term condition
  • Use anti-discriminatory behaviour when recruiting/ managing staff with long term conditions
  • Increase their understanding of what reasonable adjustments mean and involve- realise how simple and straightforward they can be
  • Be more aware of how people are self managing their condition(s) within the workplace- reasonable adjustments are there to help them better self manage and be in more control.
