Fit for Work? Who Says?

Thursday, 22 September 2016, 09:00-13:30, The Mitchell Library, Granville Street, Glasgow, G3 7DN

Do you run a business and have employees who have been absent from work?  Then the Fit for Work Scotland FREE roadshow can offer you support and advice.

Fit for Work Scotland is a free and impartial service for employers that supports employees in an effective return to work following 4 weeks sickness absence. The service is delivered in partnership by NHSScotland, FfWS aims to help employers and employees reduce sickness absence and maintain workplace health, while supporting employees to return to work in a way that is right for them.

The roadshow offers practical advice to employers, to help with managing long term sickness absence, and provides additional health information to better understand such absences with the help of our partners: Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives, the Beatson Cancer Charity, NHS Inform and Salus.

Our Fit for Work Scotland awareness session will share insights into sickness absence and how the service works.

The importance of good mental health will also be touched on by David Cox, professional footballer speaking about his battle with mental illness throughout his career.

This will be followed by an informative insight into Mindfulness, provided by Martin Stepek. Mindfulness can be described as a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
