Standard interviews and written application forms may not be the best way to get the right candidate for the job. Both supported employment projects and the jobcentres are increasingly aware of how useful work trials can be. It’s a way of trying out a potential employee before offering them a job.

Through Department for Work & Pensions, the jobcentre can offer a candidate to complete a work trial which can last up to 30 days on the understanding a vacancy is available for a t least 16 hours a week and lasts at least 13 weeks
