Orkney Islands Council is seeking the views of local employers on the skills they feel the county’s future workforce should be equipped with.

An Employers Summit is being held in Kirkwall Town Hall on Friday 28 August, featuring a number of key speakers and workshops

Following the event, the Council is keen to set up an Employers’ Focus Group to continue the discussions.

The event is being led by the Council’s Economic Development Team, in partnership with colleagues in Education, Leisure and Housing.

Councillor James Stockan, Chair of the Council’s Development and Infrastructure Committee, said: “With the additional economic challenges that our rural setting brings, it is important that as a community we work together to equip our young people for employment.
